Denby Street Student Accommodation – Sheffield
Newly built student accommodation situated in Sheffield’s busy city centre will house over 535 students. The £24m project based on Denby Street is located near Sheffield United’s football ground on Bramall Lane.
Granada Glazing designed and specified an acoustic solution to block road noise penetrating the primary windows. Granada’s secondary glazing can reduce noise levels by up to 80% which is equivalent to 54dB. To achieve the optimum acoustic performance, we advise the installation of acoustic laminated glass and an air cavity of 200mm glass to glass. Acoustic laminated glass has been specially developed to reduce low-frequency sound waves that are typically emitted by traffic.
To match the function and look of the primary window system we manufactured and installed heritage hinged units stacked on top of a heritage lift out. These secondary glazing can be opened to give access for cleaning, maintenance and ventilation when required. A restrictor was installed on the heritage hinged unit to prevent it from opening fully into the room. As we manufacture on-site at our 40,000 square foot manufacturing facility, we can tailor our products to match our client’s needs and requirements.
Products: Heritage Hinged Units and Stacked Lift Outs with 8.8mm Acoustic Laminate Glass.
